Happy New Year!! January is one of my favorite months because of all the words that are given through others to set expectations for the next twelve months. The reason God does this is to give you words to speak over every area of life. I want to give you some words that the Lord has spoken to my heart so you can declare them over 2019 and see the realities of heaven come to pass. I want to encourage you to print them and place them where you will see them every day so you can speak them over the adventures of your life!
Let’s start with 2 Samuel 22:33, which says, “God is my STRENGTH and POWER, and He makes my way PERFECT.” The reality of the natural human condition is that you were not created to be independent. Individually you are unable to supply the required necessities for life, which illustrates and illuminates the Creator’s original design. This is not bad news unless you are unaware or unwilling to recognize God, Who is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him, as God. Just as Paul in Philippians 4:19 writes, “My God shall supply all my needs…” we too must have a “My God” moment where our declaration of dependence is placed in and on Him.
This verse in 2 Samuel was sung by King David after four of the Philistine giants that threatened Israel were killed. David was not only recognizing God but also declaring in a song his adoration and revelation of whom his God was and what He had accomplished on his behalf. In verse 33 we see these three words strength, power and perfect. What I want you to notice are their meanings. Strength is understood as God being your fortress or stronghold. A refuge, a safe place from the giants that think they can destroy you. (2 Sam.21:16) Never underestimate the protection that you have in Christ. God’s strength truly is a perimeter around the entirety of your life. God’s might is not just protection from the natural storm, although we lay hold of it in time of need, but is a fortress that completely places a safeguard on every dimension of your existence. It is the knowledge of this that enables you to declare, “I will not fear!”
This word “power” is understood by its Hebrew definition as the backing to accomplish. One of my new favorite shows is The Shark Tank. Entrepreneurs who have an idea or small business have taken steps to accomplish their vision but have hit some kind of wall and need financial backing. If their presentation and numbers are clearly stated with the right amount of enthusiasm they receive backing from a Shark.w
King David was saying here, “I have faced many giants, and I have never had to face one alone, for God has given me the backing to accomplish every victory.” Please know God is backing you with unlimited resources to accomplish the vision He has spoken and anointed you to fulfill. Just as on The Shark Tank, you get all the experience and wisdom God has to offer to promote and accomplish the mission at hand, but unlike the Sharks, God’s wisdom, ability and supply is infinite and without end.
Verse 33 ends with, “He makes my way perfect.” King David was expressing an overwhelming understanding of God perfecting, fulfilling, completing and filling of his life. The work of righteousness is peace, which is the word Shalom in the Hebrew language. The simple definition of this word is “nothing missing, nothing lacking” The word “perfect” holds similar meaning. Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You.” The wild part is that “perfect peace” is the exact same word. It reads, “You will keep him in shalom shalom, whose mind is stayed on You.” Shalom is the perfecting and completing of the welfare, health and prosperity that concerns you. In fact Colossians 2:10 says, “And you are complete in Him…” you are so filled to the top that nothing shall be wanting; you are rendered perfect and completely full. Let me encourage you, you have been placed in the safeguard of God’s hands, given His backing to accomplish and perfected to the place where nothing is out of place or non-existent. It’s ALL yours!
Words for 2019
2019 is an entrance into more, a welcoming of the new.
That which seemed locked, impenetrable will break open, it is breakthrough time.
The exceeding and abundant is mine.
Abundant favor is breaking the stronghold of the enemy in my life.
I will begin to reap that which I have sown and place demand on the anointing.
I will live in the protection, promotion and perfection of my God.
This is my year to accomplish and fulfill that which God has destined me to accomplish.
I am a giant killer and will surround myself with like-minded individuals.
I will not be hindered, derailed or delayed in God’s plan for my life.
I will live by the fruit of my lips and posses every resource needed.
I will live in thanksgiving and constant praise for I know God has accomplished it all.
I will not fear the threats of time but by faith live in perfect peace.
Thank you Jesus for making 2019 my best year yet!
