It has been said that not all who wander are lost. I understand the lighthearted thought, but when your destiny is awakened then you live every day determined to accomplish the goal that is set. Fulfilling our purpose and making every day count, is when we are most fulfilled and experience true joy. You will never reach your destination until you set your compass and begin the journey.
With this said, I want to encourage you with a word the Lord gave me for a message I was ministering in Smackover, AR. While praying that Sunday morning the Lord spoke this sentence into my heart and I want you to have it. I encourage you to write it down and take time to meditate on it as the Lord wants to ensure you fulfill all that He has laid out for you to accomplish.
The Lord said, “Believing sets your course, faith works to get you there, and trust assures your save arrival.”
I want to break each of these down to give an understanding of how Belief, Faith and Trust work in our lives as we pursue the leading of the Holy Spirit.
This type of belief is a core conviction based on absolute truth. Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” Truth is absolute and cannot be deluded. Romans 1:25 talks about how culture will exchange truth for a lie. As you study this out, you’ll come to see that a better translation would be “mixing the truth with a lie”. Concrete that is not mixed correctly will crack, crumble and fail to hold under pressure. So is it with the mixing of truth and lies that the world is offering. It is unable to hold you for it is not true.
When truth is attacked, it will compromise your belief system and worldview leaving you insecure.
Jesus said to Jairus in Mark 5:35 (AMPC) concerning his belief about his daughter’s illness, “Overhearing but ignoring what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, ‘Do not be seized with alarm and struck with fear; only keep on believing.’” We must become masters at ignoring “what they said” and keep our belief in what we know to be true about our God.
Faith works! Faith is the power plant, engine, or muscle that is working to accomplish the set course. It wants to grab the unseen and make it a reality. Galatians 5:6b says, “faith working through love.” I want you to see this, faith works! We know that John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith comes by hearing….” Faith is stimulated by the word of God that is alive and active. God’s word is God-breathed and has infused in it the ability to accomplish and overcome anything.
Isaiah 64:4 (AMPC) reads, “For from of old no one has heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who works and shows Himself active on behalf of him who [earnestly] waits [hopes] for Him.
In the same way you would not put sand in your engine as it will seize and stop it, neither should you allow fear into your faith. Fear tolerated is faith contaminated. Fear is the sand in the machinery of life.
Last is trust. Trust is the substance that is created by the will of God; it is the currency of heaven. It is the exchange of God’s promises for your absolute dependency. Self-reliance or humanism is the enemy of trust, which is what wars against the will of God. It is saying “I got this!” when God is saying, “let me help you” or “I got you, trust me!”
Isaiah 41:10 (AMPC) reads, “Fear not, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. We have all heard, “God helps those who help themselves.” This is neither a verse nor found in the Bible. Sounds good but could be no further from the truth.
When blind Bartimaeus called to Jesus in Mark 10:46-52 saying, “Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me!” there were those that warned him to be quiet, but he called out all the more and it brought Jesus to a standstill. Jesus asks, “What do you want Me to do for you?”
There will always be those who assume someone will get no help, like in Psalms 3:2, “Many are they who say of me, ‘There is no help for him in God.” But God’s mercy, His unsatisfied desire to help you, is new every morning. If I can say it this way, don’t stop crying to the Lord as you place your trust in Him. He will never leave you nor forsake you no matter the situation. Your cry for help, not complaints or begging, will still stop Jesus in His tracks as it did on that day blind Bartimaeus cried out for Jesus, and He will ask you, “What do you want Me to do for you?”!
Remember rust gives thanks in all things, as thanksgiving is the fruit of trust. Rest is the position where trust thrives and produces the best results. Don’t allow your mind to wander in indecision or anxiety. Instead, take every thought captive that exalts itself above the knowledge of God and bring it into submission to the obedience of Christ.
I want to end with this verse and declare it over you. Psalms 138:8 “The Lord will perfect [complete] that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.”
“Believing sets your course, faith works to get you there, and trust ensures a safe arrival.”
